Plastic films have a much higher surface area than the same weight of rigid plastics. The increased surface area results in a much higher volume of moisture locked within the out-feed material. This in turn vastly increases the drying time fir plastic films when mechanical or thermal dryers are used.
To reduce the moisture levels using as little power as possible screw compactors are often used to push the water out of the material. Its geometric structure allows wet material to be squeezed and dewatered.
The RJ-SC Series of screw compactors are typically used after the washing and separation stages. Depending on your out-feed specification a mechanical dryer may then be used to reduce the water content even further.
